Irish Car Bomb Drink Recipe
Irish Car Bomb Drink Recipe, Irish Car Bombs are a surprisingly easy drink to make. The time-tested (and easy to swallow) ingredients mix together like a party full of gregarious Irish revelers. The full drink recipe is below, but first a quick history of the drink. he Irish Car Bomb was first created in 1979 by Charles Burke Cronin Oat, a bartender, instructor and entrepreneur who created the drink while he owned the quintessentially Irish pub Wilson’s Saloon in Norwich, CT. Without going into the full history, the drink originated when Oat took a shot mixed with Irish whiskey floating on top of Irish cream and dropped it into his half-empty glass of Guiness, remarking at the time, “Bombs away!”
From there the new drink took off in popularity, but its name has made it somewhat controversial since it references the car bombings perpetrated by the Irish Republican Army in Northern Ireland during The Troubles. To this day some bartenders refuse to serve the drink because of this reference. All the better to pick up these ingredients and enjoy the party favorite at home!
